Sega 25 stop mechanism

Post by treefrog »

I picked up a Sega Lite Up, mainly to use as spares, as it was missing the back and hood and was a bit of a mess. On collecting, I noticed it was unusual: the top where the normal light up box would sit (often missing), instead of having the two holes for the posts also had a large slot.

Also the payouts I had never seen on a Sega before, as below, on original 6D, paying 3, 6, 12, 16 and 20. Also had jackpot and working Token mechanism (guess the star payout) screwed to the casting. Then I realised the reason for the unusual payout: it has a 25 stop mechanism. Seen these on Jennings machines, but never a Sega or Mills. I am guessing this was used in a Casino type environment.

Anyone seen these?

I think it was purely the case that the 25 stop was designed to allow for higher payouts as it changes the odds considerably. The special award would be exchanged for 200+ coins, say or whatever the casino decided. There is a radical difference in the odds from a 20 stop to 25. e.g. from 8000 to 1 for 3 melons, say to 15,625 to 1 with 25 stop (assuming one jackpot symbol per reel). As to it being used in casinos, i was under the impression that the prior 20 stop mechs with jackpots were purely for private clubs/casinos as they have payouts over 10, payouts of 10 were classed as a 'lite'(sic) version for cafes, where legal to be used.

hello,

the mystery payouts you have seen payout

did you keep a record of the reel symbols

that were on the payline on the centre reels?

were they combinations of oranges & melons? or different.

also payout may be for x3 symbols anywhere in the window

eg criss cross? top/centre/bottom where x27 ways to win]?

eg x3 stars anywhere in window [eg top centre or lower] may

pay small award & x3 stars only on centre line pays big award.

this mechanism may or may not be the correct one for the

award cards on your machine currently, so could have any

combination of awards not shown on the top award card.

the award card under the reelglass may have shown the x3 star

centre line big payout and maybe other x27 ways to win pays?

I'm not sure it's good idea to recommend this thread but it will give you some information on 1 cherry and 2 cherry payouts, also a good picture of 27 ways to win payout option so easy for you to see if your mechanism has 27 ways to pay on any of your reel symbols.
