We appear to have a log on problem

Post by badpenny »

Nursey .....

Please tell Mr Pennymachines when you next take in his mashed bananas and custard that the automatic logon facility appears to be failing.
Thus those that can't remember their passwords etc. go no further.

Anyone else having problems with this?
It's working fine for me. I just logged on, ticked the "Log me on automatically each visit" box, closed the browser and relaunched it. I was still logged on.
I tested it on Internet Explorer and Firefox (both on Vista).
You didn't clear your cookies did you?
Talking of which, I have to go now - nursey's arrived with the cookies and cream.

I agree with Badpenny. The past several days when coming to the site, I have had to log on each time. I have not changed any settings, cleared any caches, etc in the interim, for what it's worth. And also, what type of cookies with the warm milk?

I'm glad it's not just me then, as I have done no maintenance regarding settings or clearing out temporary files on either of the PC's I use.

It's not hot milk, it's cream, he can't be tusted with hot milk, especially when nursey is near, hands shake too much you see?

I too have to log in every time, though once logged in it appears to persist for a few minutes as long as I keep clicking on things.

I didn't realize until today that I wasn't logged in automatically. Having no unread posts flagged made the board look as quiet as an undiscovered tomb. Then after I logged in, I discovered the board has in fact been as quiet as an undiscovered tomb, nobody on line at all. I guess everyone must be wasted on this new "lethal" strain of marijuana that Gordon Brown says is sweeping the country.

Seems to happen alot on phpbb software.
Not sure if it's when you do a software update or whether it's written into the program somewhere to randomly stop auto logins :?

That's a relief ^neo^ - I was beginning to put it down to the lethal strain of skunk I was smoking when I installed the software.

I haven't managed to replicate the problem yet - I'll give it a try on XP this evening. I made some changes recently, so I may try undoing them and see if it helps. I'll also see if anyone on the phpBB users' forum is talking about this - I notice there's already a software update available.

It's usually after the updates that things start to go screwy!
Make sure you do a backup before updating so you can rollback if need be Image

I also well remember a few years back someone said 'penny for your thoughts' and as I was only thinking of a ha'penny, I thought that was a good profit.

I've not had any log on problems....... yet

Nice to hear from you thanks for the feedback.

I don't know if this helps to identify what's happening but the automatic logon will recognise me until I search for new posts then it chucks me out and I have to log in afresh.

I've removed the changes and updated the software to the latest version.
Has this solved the login problems some of you were having?

Yup, we seem to be there, it recognised me the moment I logged on, it moaned heavily and said "You again!"

Thanks for getting it straight, I hope nursey tucks you in tightly tonight!

hello! after MONTHS of reading posts and trying to work out how to actually get on here i can breathe a sign of relief after what felt like a lot of this... :dammit:

anyway! erm... just to say hello to everyone i guess! basically i hardly know anything about vintage slots or amusements i'm just a big fan, which i guess sounds pretty stupid!

but i guess thats why i'm here, to learn, and hopefully maybe get one of my own one day, so yeah, thanks for letting such an amateur on here but for what i lack in knowledge i make up for in passion :)

I've having log on problems again.
Firstly it recognises me, then when I click on new posts it throws me out, and on occasion I'm logging back in two or three times before it gives up and lets me stay. :#:

You're not going to get rid of me that easily, I shall persevere dammit!
