I was hopeful somebody would have lept in to identify the bandits my scrambled eyesight failed to recognise.
So ..... has everyone got eyes like mine?
Or ..... more likely you all understandably assumed my meds need reviewing and I really saw nothing odd in posting a Groucho Marx video about a Tattooed Lady on the principal website for collectible amusement machines?

no help on the machines but I will comment on the rhyming of "Lydia" with "EncylopIDDIA", now that is art worthy of praise,

not entirely unrelated to your perceived or actual mental state I offer the following which for me is perhaps the greatest pun ever produced

Maybe I'll review my membership of this forum, not wanting to be a member of any forum that would have me as a member !!ESCAPE!!

Excellent! My favourite Groucho'ism was when his wife caught him kissing a chorus girl, and he claimed he was doing no such thing. He was only whispering in her mouth.

Talking Pictures TV (Freeview 81, Sky channel 343, Freesat 306, Youview 81) is a great source of old British movies, often including glimpses of amusement arcades. Today they showed the 1950 noirish Double Confession, with Derek Farr, Joan Hopkins, Peter Lorre and William Hartnel. Set in the fictional seaside resort of Seagate, (filmed at Bexhill-on-Sea and Hastings) there's a short arcade scene with an Essex? Cricketer, Speak Your Weight scales and lots of classic BMCo allwins on view (from 38:35).

I've mentioned before Talking Pictures TV as the channel for coin-op spotters. No doubt they cater for train spotters too! It seems every other British flick has a vintage slot machine somewhere in it
Recently they screened Tony Richardson's The Entertainer (1960), filmed on location in Morecambe. Here we walk down the pier (opposite the Winter Gardens) past the amusements arcade.

Yesterday they showed Anthony Asquith's The Woman in Question (1950), which features three brief fun-fair scenes. Midway through we see Dirk Bogarde failing to win a packet of cigs on a Bryans metal All Square Crane. He then chats to a fortune teller while standing in front of a Bradshaw Green Ray Fortune teller.

Later a cheerful sailor meets the Laughing Sailor...

and punches the Strength Tester.

Great little Who Dunnit. Will probably be shown again.

I am sure you have seen the rather inferior one at auction with a Sega Lite up in....

Also I always regret not buying one I fancied that came up on eBay about 8 years ago sold by one our known collectors for I think around a few hundred quid, never seen one since in this country, the Pirate on the Barrel...in the US they sell for over 5000 US....

BBC would have got it from a set rentals compay who in turn would, most likley got it from a catalogue of private owners who offer items and locations,in the usa one company supplies all the casino and slot gear to tv and film, but demand in the uk would not allow for a specialist slot company to be viable, a couple of years back i sold the sounds of all my machines being played ,mechanical and em, to a catalogue of audio effects available to tv and radio

I guess that is the difference between an auction house that accepts internet bids and one that does not.

No, it's the difference between a German electro-mechanical machine that works and one that doesn't.
