I like a challenge
Just as well really having bought this poor boy yesterday from down the road in Eastbourne. Having got it home it's not as bad as it looks (I know it looks pretty bad).
Its all there, including back door, JP unit (complete with connecting bars), original cash box, and it works (in a slow way) as do the original lights and, to be honest, it was as cheap as chips.
The gold paint was just sprayed on top of the chrome (and is falling off ) which is quite good under it (although I think I'll have the top casting re done). The lower casting will clean up fine.
Came out of a garage where it had been since the seller's father pulled it from his club years ago. Nice solid wood sides, no woodworm, but I might have to make a new base board.
When it's done, its going on sale at a reasonable price if you're still looking for one Dutchboy.

Well paul, my door is always open for a nice Jennings. Do you refer to last EH auction? I become sad again that I did not win the Export Chief. I like the older Jennings machines with the old type top casting and small jackpot.

Nice little project that I did see it on gumtree, i will keep a eye on this as a friend of mine still might be looking for governor.

Re: I like a challenge
Well its finished, and its been a lot of fun doing it and I learnt a lot. First time Ive made a new base for a bandit AND make all the parts fit back on the new one.
The mech was very dirty but working(just) ,cleaned up nicely
(the clock was a challange)
The old base had rotted away, unlike the side panels which were in good shape,God knows what was living in the pump area before I got it
The base was quite thick so to replace it I bought a £10 piece of B&Q furniture board, cut in half and stuck the two halves together and got the exact size of the old base,Routed out the slots, shaped the edges and it looks great
new art work and award card, lick of paint(and varnish) a good polish, the original lighting was in good shape so re fitted that and its done, Another machine lives again!!!

Good to see another machine ready to be enjoyed again
The base may originally been a standard thickness and
just swollen due to damp and rot?
