I had a reply from the excellent "Pachinko Man" website in the USA ( http://pachinkoman.com/Home.php ) and there were indeed pachinko machines that used tokens, some not all that long ago. They were all either captive ball type or single ball type. The web site is well worth a look as it shows the inside of many of the early machines.

I have a pachinko which is coin operated and actually pays out - has 20 captive balls.

Well I'll be damned.
Learn something new every day, I have a few very early mechanical ones but never seen a coin operated one.

The www.penny-arcade.info web site had an unusual request this week and we were wondering if anyone on the forum could help, A guy wants to buy a Wulff Bingolett (or one of the other three similar models)... Nothing unusual there you say... The unusual part is he's in India. Payment in advance and he arranges the shipping or we can buy and deal with the guy ourselves if sellers are worried. PM me or BP if you can help.
