Are these bandits any good?

Postby your-such-a-slot » Wed Apr 11, 2018 6:50 pm

I have access to these. Are there any gems there?

Well that's quite a selection of bandits.........

With regards to your question - I don't see a Mills Diamond Front or a Mills Cross Diamond...

Are you buying all? Or just asking advice which may be rarer and or more valuable?

I was wondering if there was any rare ones there, and no, I am not looking to take them all.

My Goodness, what a delightful collection! Are these the fabled ones in Holland by any chance?

Ah but we don’t know that, of course none of them may work

None of them ring my bell, lots of more of the same 1930’s Mills machines, none of which are on U.K. coinage, but each to their own I guess..., now if there were a few Bowland or Firman's conversions in the mix, would be a different story.....

Wherever they are, they have good security watching them, suspect they won’t be cheap cheap.

As we have said so often (and it seems to be more the case with slots than most collectables) the value and desirability is a very individual thing. Like Tom I wouldn't particularly want any of these. I'd rather get down to the end of the line and get a better look at those Hi-tops.

Are they any good? ...... Good for what?
It depends on whether .....

*You're a collector an investor or operator.
*They are the era you collect.
*How desperate you are versus how much they want for them and the price they're asking.
*Whether the collection impresses you, or you want to impress others by saying you own them.
*Do they work and are complete with the correct mechanisms.
*Can you cherry pick (no pun) or is it necessary to buy them all.

As others have said above, there are some there I find more interesting than others, and I'd probably be down the bottom end having taken a slow walk past the others.

BP
