Salvage haul in Australia

Post by treefrog »

For those already on the associated Facebook group, a guy posted a load of pictures of some fairly rough looking pieces, including punch bag, strength tester, love tester and merchandiser and other bits. Was intrigued if anyone recognised the Punching bag as it does not look like a Mutoscope, Mills, Ahrens Shefras etc....but did look like the Australian Durkin machine Bob posted on his thread !PUZZLED!

Edited as just realised it probably is a Durkin as the guy is called Simon from Australia. So one for you Aussies to pursue if you know him ;-)

Definitely a Durkin punchbag as I once restored an example and easily recognise it.

Post should really be renamed "Savage Haul in Oz". Think it has DD's name all over it!

Umm, the weather is so awesome in OZ that we usually store our prize collections outside................. :HaHa: "Ridden hard and put away wet!" would seem like the appropriate phrase here. That last machine appears to be a copy of the Stevenson and Lovett Nurse machine, looks like a devil head instead of the nurse, not that I've ever seen inside the original machine so what would I know!?

Yes that does look like a stuffed around with Sweepstake Nurse.
Can someone please send me the link to the site where this appeared please as this is the first I've seen of it?

I'd suggest creating a museum arcade of sorts with these and naming it "The coin-op restorers NIGHTMARE!" !OMFG!

Thanks Tree, I managed to contact the bloke and nothing fairground related is for sale. The only thing of interest to me in the photos was that enamel Ahrens plate as I have two such punchers, and he also has one though. He's going to scan for me and I'm trading him other artwork from my archive.

Thanks Treefrog and Gameswat. I recognised the couple and other machines from almost forty years ago and whilst they weren't in the best of shape then, they certainly haven't traveled well since.

This, I believe, is a Modern Enterprises machine, with Leonard Insul figures, named 'The Opera Singers'. A very elusive machine - pretty sure none exist here in the UK.
Here's a picture I have, which I think may actually be the same picture that Bob has posted.

I have many machines, around 120 or so, a lot of restored and a lot of unrestored. I have always got one or two restoration projects on the go and love working on them !!YIPPEE!! :)
