Sometimes I wish we could go back 20 years to a time when we enjoyed the holiday and place we spent so much saving for instead of thinking about things at home or elsewhere.....the internet has a lot to answer for...sitting in a Costa coffee pretty much every person is on a smart phone irrespective of who is next to them
See you Sunday for those who will be there.

Never mind Tom, you might like to say a silent prayer to these two saints see if they can sort it outthe internet has a lot to answer for...sitting in a Costa coffee
St Isidore the patron saint of the internet (appointed by pope John Paul II)
and St Drogo the patron saint of coffee shop owners.
Did you know St Geniesus is the patron saint of both Clowns and lawyers..interesting combination

Hope to see you at Coventry Tom, not been before, I should be easily recognisable, I am the bloke with grey hair and glasses sporting an old fleece top looking slightly lost
Re: Coventry Auction 25/11/18
Sounds like, with dark hair, I may be the odd one out. Although the rest of the description, being my first time too, matches pretty well!
Re: Coventry Auction 25/11/18
Well, tomorrow I will go to the bank to pay in exactly the same amount I withdrew on Friday. Couple of the things I was interested in went a little or a lot over my self-imposed limit, and although tempted by items such as the S&L Fireworks, I don't have the luxury of much space so have to be strict.
Well done to those who did successfully bid on things and it was nice putting a few faces to names.
I will continue my quest for a late Payramid now that I know (I'm going to be controversial here) the 3-ball Forks is mechanically very interesting but not-all-that to actually play.

Re: Coventry Auction 25/11/18
I wrote a few notable ones down... and managed to leave the bit of paper behind...
From memory the Bryan's Rockets got up to 2600 or so, the Forks to 1825, Six-o-more 1150, Mutoscope was over 3k.
And most notably a streamline Elevenses went for I think 1600!
Think I might be waiting a while to do any more buying.
P.S Oh and if the person who bought the Bryan's Allwin original labels is reading this and wants to sell just one of the longer Elevenses lower labels that sits below the gallery (that says Elevenses) - I'd be interested. I wasn't interested in buying ten of them.

Have a feeling they were around the 700-800 mark but I'd hate to be wrong so best to wait for confirmation from someone else. Both were nice machines and with a catcher being a style missing from my collection (of two machines, lol) I was sorely tempted by one of them.

Well as no one else has bothered, want to thank again the Jโs for organising the event. Very relaxed without a crush or crushed toe......
As seems to have been advised, overall it seemed there was a demand for machines, some which were way above what you would expect for the item, whereas there are always hidden bargains. I think the Fireworks and Brenner machines were very cheap for what they are and someone should be pleased as the Fireworks was working. Less bandits there and a few bargains, but surprises as well.....never understood what people see in QTs which sold high for some reason....
I sold all 7 lots I put in, had sensible reserves, of which two were cheap and only just reached their reserve, but some of the others went for way more than I expected, so overall happy....
I hear there may be one in the spring, which is good.
Hopefully the small or large faux pas with with table and a French allwin got sorted.
By the way Radiochrissie, I went up to 4 men with grey hair, glasses and fleece who all thought I was a pervert trying to identify you.....so now have a worse reputation.

Re: Coventry Auction 25/11/18
A great auction. Jerry and the guys are friendly and very efficient. I was selling on the day so have to wait for the buyers to pay in. I was still out around 4 ish and hitting the road. The pay in went down fast.
The auctioneer is brilliant seems to get better every year. I'm not sure if it's his day job. But it should be. He kept the momentum going nice and steady through the lots.
If you have never been. Make it your plans for next year. All apart from i think 2 machines sold. No crazy reserves which mean machines change hands. All my 10 lots sold and I came home with zero machines. Which is a first for me.
Prices in general where what you would have expected. A few bargains. And a few higher then the normal.
Hopefully there will be a auction before November as the demand is out there.
Big well done to Jerry and Co.
