Sorry to give you brain-ache coppinpr. !UPSET! . The 3 bells just paid out 10 coins with 5 slides activating, which is good, so rather than waste any more of your time for the moment perhaps I should log in the next 20 or so payouts, what symbols, how many coins and how many slides activate. The Lemon, Cherry, Lemon combination paid out 4 a few days ago then 6 next time it came up, then 2 (!) but I wasn't checking slides on the earlier payouts so will do so and see if some sort of pattern emerges. Could slides be part of the problem? Either way, it's a lovely machine despite its childish jokes it's playing on me, so I'm sticking with it.

Oh your machine is a loooong way from being a big problem machine, it's most likley the fact there is more than one problem that is confusing the issue. Do the stop fan thing and list what happens when you line up each and every winner. The slides could well be a problem, especially if what BP says is true and they are running the wrong coins, are dirty, or both. A good first lesson on bandit maintenance is removing the slides and cleaning them. A detailed description of how to do it exists in the hints and tips section. It can and will get fixed... it just might take some time.

Ref Jubilee Rivierra Collossus payout anomolies I've got back to looking at it after being sidetracked by the festive season, and a trial logging of payouts has solved the problem.

Bear in mind it's my first bandit so I was on virgin territory. The machine was now paying out correctly on all runs but in addition was incorrectly paying out 2 coins when first reel came up with a lemon. This seemed odd as it appeared that the lemon on first reel was masquerading as a cherry and this was proved further as when first was lemon and second was cherry it paid out 4 coins, i.e. for 2 cherries.

A close examination of the reel showed an almost invisible join line at the edges of the lemon symbol and lo and behold a careful prising up of the lemon revealed the original cherry one beneath ! :woops:

Why anyone would want to do this I can't quite work out (anyone got any clues on this?) as it wouldn't cut down the number of wins, just confuse the operator (and I'm easily confused) but it was a very professional looking job as the lemon was a perfect copy of the lemons on the other reels and not readily visible. I ,thought I'd share this as it just goes to show that it pays to examine the reels closely for a simple solution before taking the machine to bits !PUNISH!

At some time in its life it probably had a blank on the payout disc preventing the finger from entering the hole thus not paying out as you would expect with a lemon so the player would not suspect anything amiss. In this way, the arcade operator can increase his profits (sneaky!) The blank must have since been removed but not the lemon symbol. The bandit boys will probably be along soon to tell you of other dastardly tricks like 'bugs'.

Sometimes the blanks were just clipped into the payout disc gaps and constant hammering on the first reel could eventually pop it out. Nice to return the machine to its correct payouts. !THUMBS!

It's possible the lemon was added without the bug being clipped over the pay out gap.
By allowing it to pay out (the smallest win) it entices the player into thinking it's mis-paying and they're cheating the machine. !!YABBADABBA!!
Mills & Sega commonly did this and proudly proclaimed "Mystery Wins" on the Award Card.

We had a machine on here not long ago where the payout card told you what the "Mystery" wins were. !PUZZLED!

Sorry to be a pain again but would appreciate your advice on one final point on the Jubilee Collossus please. Following all your help on this one I have got all the payouts working perfectly with just one exception and that is regarding the jackpots.

Using your suggestions, I've stopped the fan so I can move the reels to check payouts and all are fine except for the two jackpot rows which each pay out exactly 12 coins from the right hand coin tube, whereas the machine says the max payout for jackpot is 100 (which, unless I'm being even thicker than normal, should presumably come from the two left hand tubes, both of which are half full?) !PUZZLED!

What triggers the payout from the jackpot tubes and how do I adjust it to pay out correctly?
Many thanks for a so helpful site !THUMBS!

These jackpots are a little odd, although they don't look like a Mills or Jennings jackpot with their square coin jackpot hopper, I believe your machine works in the same way. Firstly it won't always pay 100 coins, it will pay whatever is in the jackpot tubes (or tube) plus 12 up to a max of 100. I've never actually seen one of these so I'm making assumptions.

It says on it "jackpot 100 max". The jackpot tubes appear to fill from coins passing on their way to the cash box. I can't see if you have a single JP where both tubes dump on a JP or two separate JP's (although I think this second option may be the case). If each tube holds 100 (or possibly 90) coins when full, then one JP will pay, leaving the other as a reserve jp to payout while the first one re fills.

Now as to what makes it pay, show us a close up of the jp and a close up of the slides. If this is a purely mechanical machine there will be a separate slide for the jackpot. This will have a raised knob or bar that releases the jp tube as it shoots in on a win. The next play after a jp win will close the jp tube and, possibly, switch the JP to the other tube ready for next time.

If on the other hand this is a part electric machine, it might fire the JP from a switch that closes when a JP win comes up and completes a circuit to a solenoid that pulls in and releases the coins in the JP tube. The next play would reset the switch and the JP would close as the solenoid springs back as the power dies.

Might have got this ALL wrong, need photos as have never had one of these. :o

OK - thanks coppinpr - will take a few close up pics but you've given me a few ideas to look at first (like I need to check one of the jackpot tubes isn't jammed and stopping full payout) so will get back tomorrow with pics after I've checked it out more.............Brian

A few pics attached in case they help. As I see it the sequence is that the coins firstly drop into the single right hand tube. When it is full they overflow down a shute into the first of the left hand jackpot tubes then, when that is full, overflow into a further tube (behind the 2 left hand tubes) that leads to the cash drawer. The second left hand tube is not affected by any coin overflow so presumably remains loaded until triggered? So far, all the payouts, including the "jackpot" ones which pay out 12, have come from the right hand tube.

So are you saying, coppinpr, that the jackpot should pay out 12 coins from the main tube then also trigger the first jackpot tube? Currently it simply pays out 12 from main tube then stops.

I see (as in pic) the raised knob on the top payout slide which, when top slide is activated, pushes the bar at the base of the jackpot tubes but that should, if I understand it correctly, then move the cover below the jackpot tubes (3rd pic) opening it up to release the coins? Does that make sense? As that is not happening what should I look at to help it along? I will meanwhile empty the jackpot tubes completely and refill just in case it's simply a coin jamming the payout somewhere. Machine is, incidentally, purely mechanical.

Sorry for so many questions (and apols if they are in ignorance!) but it's a lovely machine for my first bandit and I'm nearly there so determined to solve the last problem |/XX\|
