Vending machine

Post by ballymad »

Bought a vending machine a while back - Tic Tacs - but the vend packs fall out when you wiggle the handle.
Does it need a weight, or is there something else missing? I put a perspex front on it but that never helped.

Blimey, that's a blast from the past, I used to sell those years ago!
Did you modify it to take the new £1 coin?
These were designed to vend Wrigleys Extra Mints in the long tubes.
They stopped doing those mints last year and only do them in macthbox size boxes, I believe??
This magazine is too wide for Tic Tacs. You need a new magazine that keeps the product from moving around.
That's why jiggling the knob will get you a free pack.
A weight may help, but ideally, you want to make a new magazine for Tic Tacs, as I do not believe these machines are made any longer??

Thank you for your reply.
It vends on the old pound. The Tic Tac boxes are large ones.
Not quite sure what you mean? Would I have to tighten it up to fit the width? Just seems to be a large gap at the bottom and nothing to stop two packs falling out together.

I have taken a closer look at your pic.
I could be wrong, but, that's an awfully large gap at the bottom which suggests you are vending the large boxes on their sides??
These machines were designed to vend a pack of no more than 1 inch high.
I would imagine a large Tic Tac box on its side would be double that.
Did you bend the shelf at the bottom of the magazine down to accomodate vending a product nearly two inches high?
If you did, you have gone beyond the tolerances this very basic machine was designed for and it will never work as intended!

Did a close up - the machine is stamped 2004, so is 15 years old.
That shelf has either been bent down or needs adjstment/bending up or else the magazine needs lowering via some adjustment screws on the backplate that I can just about make out!

OK thank you. Will look at those two suggestions.
I had it powder coated so looks quite tidy.
Just have loads of unfinished projects and would like to get this one finished.
