Sparta electric shock

I probably already know the answer to this, but was fascinated by the Black Forest cuckoo clock looking electric shock machine Sparta on eBay... Given it sold for £140, probably answers the question as to whether was this a genuine item or made up, but obviously used an old cabinet of some past with what looks like a glorious Hobbs safe handle on the front and bits old old electric items dotted around... Wonder whether this ever worked?

Yep, I spoke to others who came to the same conclusion. The mystery is how many different 'antiques' were married together to make it. I wonder if the electric components came from one of those quack medical shock machines.

More likely plugs direct into the mains - now that would be a real eye opener.
In truth, a Victorian "exciter" of the type you mention Mr P can be seen in the middle of the glass fronted case.

I just recently bought this mini version, still fully working in its original case at an antique fair. I think I only paid £10.
