1938 Mills Vest Pocket

Post by vince55 »

Hi, I brought a Mills Vest Pocket trade stimulator in November at the Elephant House Auction, I have looked for one for a while but have never been able to afford the high prices they are now fetching. I won it for a good price but it had a couple of issues.
The coin slide was very stiff and tended to seize up but after some work managed to get it working well, but the unit is missing the coin box and the fruit reel strips are in a bad way.

Does anyone know where I can get a coin box to fit or reel strips to replace my rather tired ones?

Also the reels spin quite slowly in fact by the time the third one is stopped it has slowed to a standstill on its own, can anyone give me some advice on what might be causing this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I can make you the reel strips on vinyl ,PM me if interested, My first guess on the slow reel is simply dirt restricting the movement, thats what it sounds like.

I just would like to show you the finished restoration. I know it's a little unusual colour, but I like the look. Here you can see the before and after pictures. Thank you for your help.

Well done! !!THUMBSX2!! I think the two-tone, retro colours look good.
