BDR 'Breadbin' bandit
Re: BDR Breadbin
Never seen a manual and has been raised on the site before. As said though by others previously, although they are very different to a standard bandit, once you work through the logic of operation, fairly easy to get to grips with.

Thanks TF, I’ve been reading all the archives. Looking forward to giving it a good service. I love the engineering.

Re: BDR Breadbin
One small fault with the engineering that is worth keeping an eye on: the gap between the bottom of the payout tube and the rotating coin slide is critical. Also the adjustment on the small jackpot fill door that opens every 5 coins or so needs to be just right or coins won't pass and a jam results. It's an easy setting, one grub screw (I think) to release and then set the door in the right place. My guess is they soon found this a problem as there is a quick release here to clear jams. Love this machine, especially the way the jackpot refills from the reserve with a tall column of coins. Must be the only machine with a banana on the reels.
Re: BDR Breadbin
Love the good British engineering in these. Took it all apart today for a good clean and the use of locating pins is admirable, meaning not a lot of room for errors in assembly. Only found one issue with a retaining slide bolt which, when I eventually removed it, was completely stripped of thread. Fortunately, I can drill the old thread out and machine a new bespoke bolt on Monday.

Re: BDR Breadbin
Can anyone explain why the cherry on the top reel is different to the middle and lower reel? Has someone replaced this at some point ?
Also, does anyone have a coin box for sale or can anyone take a photo of theirs and let me have some dimensions?
Thanks

Just checked - cherries on three of mine; one has the cherry same as yours, the other's normal.

Re: BDR Breadbin
Anyone know where I can get a lock for this machine? It’s a Union GKK 473 lock.
Anyone got one to sell ?
Thanks

Re: BDR Breadbin
If you can't find the correct lock or anything better I have locks that are exactly the same from the outside BUT the attachment holes are in the wrong place. If you remove the existing bracket and can find a way of clamping the lock in place using the existing holes in the case it's near perfect.
BDR lock & Key

Wondering if anyone has one of these locks complete with its key. Failing that fantasy, how easy is it to make one a key to fit this lock ?

Re: BDR lock & Key
I don’t have my BDR near me, but I suspect they have a short nozzle on them and the good news is the barrel is centred as off centre ones are tough to source.
If they are the same size as standard locker locks like L&F, Yale and Union with tabs, it maybe possible to cut off the tabs and drill out the lock supports that hold them together and put through headless bolts.
See below three variants, L&F, Yale and Union. The bottom one is a off centre Union lock with a long nozzle.
Second picture shows top right and bottom left where you drill out locking suppo and fit bolts which would match the position. Check size as they are 4.5cm by 3.8cm and easily available online

Re: BDR lock & Key
TF, mine is 4.3cm x 3.9cm. The surround diameter is 1.6cm and depth is only 2.9mm. Not managed to find anything online yet. Thinking of opening up the lock and making a key.
Re: BDR lock & Key
So if I have understood your measurements, I believe the barrel is 22mm by 16mm.....which mean the medium size L&F lock is same dimensions of 43mm by 30mm overall depth of 33mm, just need to remove table and drill holes for bolt......they are on eBay about £11
Re: BDR lock & Key
Hi TF, unfortunately mine is smaller than this. Mine has an overall depth of 17mm, the key boss is 16mm dia x 3mm deep.

Make a spacer
Edited as of course the lock will be further from latch......never seen one with such a short nozzle.....

Re: BDR lock & Key
Are you offering Jeremy ?
I did take the lock apart last week to see if I could make a key, and it doesn’t look too difficult.
