private messages

Post by coin-op »

I have received a couple of e mails purporting to notify me of messages sent via the penny machines members messages system. However, I have checked my messages by going to this site and signing in from there and there are no new messages. So, it seems the messages are some kind of phishing exercise (unless admin says otherwise). Therefore, other members may want to treat carefully any such notifications of a new message which they receive. If you want to check a new message, best thing is to go to the penny machines web site and log in rather than click on the e mail link showing an apparent link to the site.

I think they were sent by a mischievous individual who exploited the fact that guests could use the forum to email registered members (without revealing the member's email address, by-the-way).

I wasn't aware this was possible, but I've now altered the forum permissions to prevent it.
