One Arm Bandits that use Florins

Post by grains »

A question to the Forum please.
Are there many one arm bandits that run on Florins? I think I have seen later Aristocrat models but wondered if the mechanical Segas, Mills, Jennings, Jubilees etc were ever converted to use this coinage?

Florins!?
Gawd ... Strewth ... & Luv a Duck, Guv!
Do you still wear wing collars and studs?
Where do you get your Spats from since Gammages in Holborn started to wind down in the 60s?
I'm sure I paid a florin or maybe half a dollar for my first Opera Hat, but never to play a slot.

A Ha'penny for the Allwins and Clowns on the pier at the turn of the 20th C, a penny for the machines of my childhood arcades. Sometimes a thru'penny bit to play a quality machine like a Jennings or Clubmaster and a tanner in shooting games and pinballs. Jennings Galaxies skinned you for a bob but gave you two pulls.
However, chuck a two bob bit in a slot? Maybe Nobs in clubs up West did, but I can't imagine escalators being specially manufactured for that size, so maybe electro-mech types like Buckingham?

Anyway, if anyone else experienced anything pre decimalisation, shout out.
I'm off now to black lead the fireplace and polish the Under stairs Maid's knee caps.

BP :dapper:

Then again I'd never seen a Club Chief in a consul :dammit:

I think that the fact that the club chief is in a consol only reinforces BP's idea that the 2/- machines were for use "up West" rather than in the black country

2/- payout slides certainly exist.
I measured some up, years ago, with a view to converting an old 'fish mouth' Mills to Half Crown play!

Well thats answered that for you BP, you can now get back to polishing your front door step with Red Cardinal polish, although I expect you to refrain from covering the hair curlers with a scarf.

BP is to "posh" for that, he will just give the step a quick once over with the Bex Bissell before the "Corona" man comes round
