Vintage Slots in Films and Newsreels
Re: Vintage Slots in Films and Newsreels
Nice video and never heard of Colourfields, although was a huge fan of the Specials
Re: Vintage Slots in Films and Newsreels
Yes, great video. Filmed on the Palace Pier, Brighton - the vintage slots in John and Clive's 'National Museum of Penny Slot Machines' upstairs in the old theatre, before the Noble vandals ripped it down

On you tube....vintage slot machines Magpie 1977. [ Sorry, I don't know how to do the link] Featuring John Gresham. Who made the first working model shown- Dennison? Love it.
Re: Vintage Slots in Films and Newsreels
Dennison purchased this Levitating Lady automaton in France around 1908 and built the case himself. In the 1920's his daughters revamped it into the then more current deco look. An example of the original automata (pic attached) sold at auction approx 2012 for $220,000! I was lucky enough to work on the machine for Pat Gresham in 2012 and I found an operating info label attached inside that I carefully removed to discover the original Dennison business card on the backside. At the time she was hoping to sell the machine to a coin-op collector but that never happened and I believe it went to Europe to be restored back to the original format of non coin-op without cabinet.

Another old film with an arcade scene, “The Yellow Balloon” from 1953. I only saw it at the end of the scene, but the film is being shown on Talking Pictures TV. Took a quick TV shot and could not find an online video.

Bargain Hunt toy special broadcast today on BBC1 shows Darren Hesketh's museum at about twelve minutes from the start and lasts about five minutes. Should be on BBC i player in due course.

I wonder if Cathy's training film taught anything other than soft Spam sells. Maybe we could induce Nursey to do a video for PennyMachines??

PS. Hit again by the SPAM program. The deleted word was "p-o-r-n." I'm going to put myself in detention now.

Re: Vintage Slots in Films and Newsreels
It should already be on iplayer 13rebel, as this was the second time this episode of BH has been broadcast - although that is not unusual for the BBC these days.13rebel wrote:Bargain Hunt toy special broadcast today on BBC1 shows Darren Hesketh's museum at about twelve minutes from the start and lasts about five minutes. A rather nice floor standing strength tester on The repair shop BBC one 13/14 today. Paperwork dial shows A. Rowland and son and Improved strength test company, Cannon street on the cast iron body. Should become available on i player.

John Gresham
It's been a while since we talked about John Gresham.
There is a mention of this video on here, but I couldn't find a link to it, so here is one for those who haven't seen it before.
Magpie was so much cooler than Blue Peter.
