Alfred E Newman?

Post by coppinpr »

Alfred E Newman is alive and well (or was in the 1940's) and he owned (or rented) a Buckley "Tone Tower" jukebox with counter units

Mad Magazine artists have often stated they borrowed the image from much earlier images used by patent medicine companies.
Williams syndrome is a developmental disorder that affects many parts of the body. This condition is characterized by mild to moderate intellectual disability or learning problems, unique personality characteristics, distinctive facial features, and heart and blood vessel (cardiovascular) problems. Trump was criticised for describing one of his electoral competitors as an "Alfred E Neuman"

Newborns with Williams syndrome have characteristic “elfin-like” facial features including full cheeks, an abnormally prominent open mouth.
Being a chromosomal syndrome it is detectable before birth these days, in the same way Downs is, and as such is much less evident.

The catch phrase "What me worry?" was a very common anti Yiddish punch line at the time. Delivered as a selfish reply to bad news that had befallen others.

I had no idea that Neuman was a fictitious character, or that he owed his distinctive features to a clinical disorder.
You learn so much more than just arcade-related matters on here!

(That photo is a gem, by the way).

as a benchmark for "poor" perhaps

and I didn't even mention that suit in the photo, looks like the one you were de-mobbed in back in 1945 John.

Don’t worry, it won’t be long before I won’t remember what I posted yesterday.
