Lochmann's Hab Acht! identified

Post by lastcenturygames »

Hello,

I need your help to identify a machine that appears on an old french postcard but it's seems that the manufacturer is English or German. Do you have informations to share on this machine where we can read RAFAL on the top (see linked pictures)
Thank's in advance.
Sorry for my poor English language!

It would be great to see a larger scan of that postcard. I don't know the machine, but think it might be German, because the style and name suggest it's not English. Compare it to Fritz Lochmann's 1908 Hab Acht!

Rafal means nothing in English (or German) as far as I know but, as a Polish boy's name related to the Hebrew name Raphael, means "healing God".

Thanks a lot for your quick and interesting answer. I missed this machine when I searched on this German website. I agree with you that it is a similar machine manufactured in Leipzig and should be German production before WW1.
I'll continue to search now in German side.
Thanks again.

Very rare.
All I knew look like the machine on your postcard, with the round woodwork at the pistols pick up.

Thanks a lot for your link. Yes, it seems the same type of machine but without the gun. It seems French importation of German Machines, like the Agence Française des Appareils Automatiques did.

In the picture of your link there is a gun attached to the machine, but on my picture extracted from a postcard it seems there is no gun.

There should be two versions:

with a difficult bullet loading system,
and
with a "gun" which shoots a long metal bolt at the target.

There was also a non-coin operated version for home use only.

Version on your postcard seemed to be with "bolt".
I only knew two machines with bolt, and one with complete missing gun and pickup.

So it seems likely the machine in the postcard is Lochmann's (not some other maker's copy). Often early line drawings of games differ considerably from surviving production models.

Thank's a lot all for your informations. I found the French dealer (not with the machine as you said it is an exportation from German manufacturer Lochmann) but with the list of french manufacturers in 1910 and Google view, the front of the shop and windows doesn't change : mister Meynars J. 38 rue Veron Paris (Appareils automatiques).
I'm sorry to not share this postcard as I'm not the owner.
Kings regards
Philippe
