Ha ha... just as I thought. Yes, good news the Bullion had an engine in it which worked and payed out when I played it. Time to smile. I didn't see the Kodak vendor though. Did I miss a treat? The fairground horse was well over my budget but a nice one nevertheless. Did you attend in person or were you an internet bidder? !PUZZLED!

I have a habit in buying empty boxes
I have tons of empty boxes, how much do you want to pay?...free bubble wrap.
Old car auction trick, jam the boot or bonnet to hide whatever nasties hide underneath, same with slots, polish the case to death to lead the unwary in the trap of doom. A Governor at Coventry last year was like that, if you shook the bandit, it rattled..nothing was attached behind the locked door. On the other hand, unscrupulous people might remove the keys from good machines in the hope of getting the lot at a cheap price. Moral: tie wrap the keys to the machine if selling. Having said that, I have bought a few coin or handle jammed bandits for very good prices from mainstream auction houses.

Apologies Cheeky if you were bidding, but I had no plans to buy this, although I have always fancied one, but felt the price was just about right as it was on old penny.....just need to sort out the missing payout cup and door....The vendor was hidden and not described well mixed in with full size advertising stands for Kodak, so may have been missed by most online bidders, quite like the Kodak vendors....looked all there when viewing, just needs a clean.......Yes was online as busy at the time...

Yes empty boxes, had one at the last Coventry auction - an automatic pay Wonders machine..... took me 5 minutes to open when getting home, so no excuse for the vendor to leave locked when seller, just intentional deception... I think you are better off taking these risks from a non-collector sale I am afraid. Apologies, but it is true, as we know the issues and what others would look for.... Like people who hide a flaw on the machine with the Lot number, a good old trick.....

Yes another machine buried for 7 years, I dug out a rusty and sad looking Bullion I bought at Reeman Dansie in this thread, missing cash tray and coin cup surround. Also had a horrendous gloopy overcoat of horrible dark varnish all over it, (thought I had a picture of before, but doh)….So serviced it, stripped cabinet and gave it speckled finish, not perfect, but first attempt.

Happy with cash tray made of oak and same type of tin carefully cut and folded with new lock.

With coin cup surround given up hoping someone had one, so started to make one out of flare brass sheet…..cut but yet to attempt stamping some marking into it, as I need to find right dies to use. The difficult one will be the pentagon……May get all buts chromed once done….
