R&W Grand National
Playworn, needs a little tinkering with
Mech is complete and working, scenery, marquee and bits of the cabinet there. I’m toying with the idea of replacing the horses with something else...

any chance anyone has better photos of these Grand National machines?
I would like better photos of either of these two versions...


are these both by Whittaker and not R&W?
I am collecting information on some of the British machines that were exported to Japan.

The bottom photo with Billy Butlin, his wife and hangers on is definitely a Whittaker machine. That photo was given to me for a story I wrote about the Whittaker family for a slot machine magazine. The photo seems to have made its way in public circulation on the web. John Whittaker told me that the machine in the bottom photo was the first of its kind (now much copied). I was told Mr Butlin bought one machine for each of his camps on the day that photo was taken.

I do have some racers in my collection (not just photos), but my Grand National is of the R&W brand...
