Ell's Diabolo

Post by john t peterson »

Put on your sleuth hats, lads; a discovery needs some research. I've been contacted by another Yank who has a Diabolo. There is a picture in the Discoveries area from a 2012 posting by Jingle: "Six-Pot Jack Pot, DiaBolo & 3 early BM Co.s." There is no further information regarding the machine in that posting, only a picture.

My friend has a Diabolo in remarkable good condition. Pictures will most likely follow but for now, help is needed in the patent department. There are two patents listed on the machine: "GB 190727285A" and "27285," the second probably just a partial repeat of the first. He was able to get a description under the first patent but no drawing to accompany the script.

So, the challenge is to come up with a drawing or other information about this game. The exercise will be well worth the time.

There are illustrations of the game and its mechanism on pages 6 - 16 of the 1908 GB190727285 patent
See also Diabolo? in the Museum.

Thanks Mr. PM! I'm sending the link to the owner who can now put the word description together with the diagram. He's figured out the play mechanism in back but the playfield in front is still somewhat a mystery. I'm hopeful he will authorize pictures once he has the game sorted.
