This one seems to have been on and off eBay for literally years now. No takers it seems.

From the description: -
... This item is UNTESTED and I do not know if it still works as
intended.

Well old fruit to back up your valuation of nine hundred sovs, the very least I'd expect you to do is chuck a penny in it and find out.

Even without a battery, the penny would test whether or not the timer drum works, which is the critical element of the machine.

I always wondered if this machine was an April fool from Mr Bryan and could never see it as a serious arcade machine, once played, never played again …….as for value, how much does an empty box cost :o

I agree with Tom, this machine never made any sense, and arcade operators were never known for their dedication to maintenance. (once a year during the winter, pull out all the mechs, oil them and put them back in the first case you came to ). At the very least this machine was high maintenance. The original instruction leaflet shows that a certain kind of ant was needed, and feeding and cleaning needed to be regular, plus the bulb needed changing all the time as old style bulbs didn't like being constantly turned on and off, plus old style batteries didn't last long so they needed changing as well. Then, of course, there is the fact that the operator is going to be hounded by unhappy punters who think they have been duped, plus, as Tom said, once played never again. This machine offered the operator nothing but trouble for very little return.

nine hundred sovs,
that should be "sobs" BP , although thought to be a mispronunciation of sovereigns originally, the cockney term for pound notes was "sobs" not "sovs" you northerners couldn't be expected to know that :D
