Re: Sega Basketball
I saw this and was interested, but looking at other pictures online, the Sega one has a round dome and SEGA is on the end panels by the buttons.
It also says 'partita' on the score panel.
Is it a copy by another company?

Re: Sega Basketball
I didn't look at pictures just saw the listing and felt it was rare enough machine to start a thread, so used there description!
Partita is I think "game" or "match" in Spanish so maybe not a company name...? but a clue to manufacturer nationality if a copy? I'm sure someone with em arcade game experience will be along soon...

There's a Midway. Don't know who was first to copy who in the States.

Sega Basketball?
Topic moved & merged - Site Admin.
Just purchased this Basketball machine today (rather strange after reading Cait001 post in Niche collections this very morning.)
Big question: who made it? Does not look like the Sega in Cait001 post.
Can anybody advise on the ball used and does anyone know how / who can repair cracks in the angular canopy.

Re: Sega Basketball?
I find it amusing that only a few days after I made my Basketball post you find a different machine than any I documented! Wow, great job.scorpa163 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2024 7:59 pm Just purchased this Basketball machine today (rather strange after reading Cait001 post in Niche collections this very morning.)

Can you please scour it for any manufacturer marks, serial numbers, country info, etc? I'd like to add this one to my post as well.
I believe this style of base to be more indicative of around 1970+, but there are large swathes of the global arcade world that I don't have info on. (YET.)
The machine yours shares the most in common with is this one.... both have "Basket Ball" as the title, same control panel except blue background instead of orange.
The graphic design of the scoreboard is entirely new, but the layout of the numbers is the same as the original Italian games, so there is a chance yours was a model before this one, as the layout of the numbers (ergo the lamp layout had to be altered) is different on this:
Re: Sega Basketball?
adding: I do think your machine is an earlier model. At least, initially. Yours has the three holes for each leg visible.
It appears retrofitted with the extra green base, and then the robust coin door added.
I'd be curious to know if you feel that retrofit was an amateur one-off or done by a factory. I would not be surprised if it was done by a factory, using older machines and retrofitting them with that coin door.
Anyone recognize the style / make of that coin door? I highly doubt it's from the original manufacturer, but could offer clues as to who modified this game, and where.

Door looks like a Gottlieb pinball machine door.
