I am a big fan of Aristocrats and this is one I bought not long ago, but was completely screwed with the mechanism twisted and the reels smashed, didn't realise how bad it was until I picked it up. I finally worked out why the damage had occurred as Kingsways, Nevadas and Grosvenors have a tension bar on the rear of the frame that tensions the whole mechanism together. This one had lost its nuts and as such the stopper bars became dislodged and smashed into the reels,as they are plastic on later machines so disintegrated. Still with the help for rare parts from Roger of Mundesley and hours rebuilding have managed to get it going and boy does it shine, see Mad Melons in action

I hope to get my website going with all completed machines on soon.

Great to see one of these '60s win streak bandits actual operate. This is a Sega Windsor Crazy Bells. I have one or two other Sega and Mills machines with these type win options, often after-market add-ons, but have never understood how they work.....What determines how many plays the win streak runs for?

What determines how many plays the win streak runs for?
An electromechanical stepping switch, usually, that advances once per play. You can see the bell blink after each game as the switch steps up. The "at rest" position is generally on about the 10th step, where a tooth is missing from the ratchet so it can't advance any more, even though the step-up coil is still pulsed every play. The jackpot combination trips the reset coil, resetting the switch to the zero position. Positions 0 through 9 are wired together and close the circuit to turn on the feature. The 10th position is not wired, so on the 10th step the feature turns off until the switch is reset again.

These "time jackpots" came out in the late 1960s as a way to get round the top payout limitation. The government quickly changed the rules to make them illegal.

I thought I'd try my hand at putting a short video on youtube, so I made this 'how it works' about my Groetchen Columbia. I used a £20 camera I bought in the Far East and my wife's sewing light! Didn't come out that bad!!!
