In the hugely successful "Big Bang Theory" a very nice, rare and valuable pinball shows up in scenes shot in the comic book store in more than a dozen episodes. It's a 1950 Genco "Rocket". It's never featured in the show but the many glimpses are tantalizing. Artwork by George Molentin who also did the art for "Gusher" and "Magic City" for Williams in later years.
staggering fact about The Big Bang Theory, it run for 11 years and the three major stars received 1 million dollars each per episode for the final series...and there were 20 episodes !!

'The Greyhound Racer' featured in Antiques roadshow tonight at 8pm on BBC 1. It is shown at about 52 minutes in. Filmed in Derbyshire, maybe on catch up in due course. Presenter Mark Hill says very little about it, I usually quite like the way he presents. Perhaps he learnt his lesson [or the people that feed him the information] when he once described a Hawtin Clutching hand as a Hawkins Hand grabber and so thought best to keep quiet this time.

His advice that it was from the 1950s was a bit skew wiff.

Spot-a-Card pinball seen on TV

Post by tim575 »

All, just of interest I noticed in a M*A*S*H episode ("there is nothing like a nurse") this week a scene had a 1960 Gottlieb Spot-a-card pinball machine. Only problem is that TV series was set in the timeframe of early 1950's. Guess the set director figured anything with wood rails fits in, even if didn't exist for another 10 years !PUZZLED!

One of my favourite pinballs, a real "skill" game. The score was of little interest; it was all about lighting up all the cards. Thanks for this reminder. I'd all but forgotten it.
