Round or square denominator on Mills War Eagle
Round or square denominator on Mills War Eagle
Can anybody tell me what kind of denominator is correct for an early Mills War Eagle (1930/31)?
Is it the round or square one?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Round or square dominator on Mills War Eagle
Hard to say, but it seems most likley that originally it was square but was soon changed to round by the factory.

Re: Round or square denominator on Mills War Eagle
The Mills War Eagle is possibly the most reproduced slot in circulation.
Many thousands were created in the 1970s when of course the real thing was from the 1930s.
They tended not to have a serial number stamped into the shoulder of the top casting and, because more modern mechanisms were used, the machine pays on a single cherry. This payout format wasn't introduced until post WWII. Check your first photo.

On the adjacent page, The Mills New Silent Jackpot Front Vendor (also introduced January 1931) has the round 5c denominator, like the one in the second photo.

Yes, all the repro ones typically have the square badges… Mills did use square badges on some slightly later models.
