Retreeva in Netherlands

What happened to the Retreeva on Ebay out of the Netherlands? The auction has ended but the listing does not indicate it was sold, per se. There were three offers, two of which were declined but no further reference to the third offer. In the Q & A at the bottom, the seller tells a prospective purchaser that he's too late, the game has been sold. (He apparently was negotiating when the game sold out from under him. I hate when that happens to ME!)

I'm confused. ("No surprise to me," replies Dearly Beloved.)

Anyone care to shed some light?

Why are you surprised about this, it seems to be standard practice for around 25% of sales of specialist items on ebay these days.....remember that people will save on ebay fees and on that value it is quite a lot. The problem is the risk in terms of renege deals and no backing on dodgy people.......

In house terms they use to call it gazumping, someone comes in with a cash offer after or during negotiations through proper channels and seller accepts it annoying everyone else....

I guess the answer is, if you want it and you are willing to pay the asking price......A Bryans elevenses was on sale about week ago, with a buy it now of £450 and starting price of £350....I thought about just going for it, but waited.....it ended up at £496.......

I often email a seller stating interest in case someone comes in with a silly offer and if the seller does not know much about the value of the machine explain the potential value, hoping they will let it stand......does not always work. I think this seller is a big slot collector, so probably got a good offer....

Besides, I'm using those allwins to try and lure a certain rare bird, "Mechanicus Geniui" from Australia. It's very shy and elusive but known to be attracted to large piles of rare unrestored British coin-op.
