Top collector is Jingle. If he offered you it for 400 you should have snapped his hand.

He has one of the best collections. Machines I have ever seen before and would not mention with out his permission.

All attempts to persuade Jingle to re-join are in vain, although he won't say why.

is there any difference between the Slick made by Samson and North Autos? Did one make it first and the other license it / copy it?

From what we've gathered so far, it seems likely that North Autos manufactured the Slick and Samson marketed and sold it. Samson were mostly focused on distribution of other makers' games, although there are several machines exclusively associated with them. I think they built some early (pre '30s) wall machines like the Samson Double Six and Dividends, but suspect the metal-cased Grip Test, like the Slick, may also have been North Autos.

The Samson advert said:
It's British built and packed by Samson

Did I not see a post from Jingle posted in Feb in the thread "biplane shooting game"? I hope I'm right

Slick power

Post by handyman »

Topic moved & merged - Site Admin.

Good afternoon,
Currently doing up a Samson Novelty penny machine called Slick!!! Does anybody know what size of battery I would need to power it? First time at doing something like this, so any help would be much appreciated.
TIA Handyman

Hi there Handyman,
I use a Panasonic 3R12 4.5V in my Slick. On ebay for around £3.00.
Hope this helps.

Nick, thanks for that. Will source one tomorrow. Haven’t got a clue what I’ll do once I get it but trying to work it out is part of the enjoyment.
Thank you once again,

No problem Tony if you need any further photos give me a shout. I love my Slick machine. It is the actual machine I played as a young kid.

Nick
Sorry to bother you again. Was wondering if you were able to send me a whole picture of the workings of your Slick machine so I can compare with what I have, to make sure nothing is missing.

This isn’t my machine. I am trying to get it going for a lady who inherited from her mother. It’s been under wraps in a garage for years. Like you, I have fond memories of playing with these in Heysham Village where I live, so would really like to get it sorted for her. I have managed to find pictures of the original machine and colour scheme, so once I have
rubbed it down I will get it sprayed.

I recently finished work due to MS and bad legs, so I like to think I have my own little repair shop in my garage and love trying to sort things for people.

Thank you once again, but if I ever become a pest with questions you must let me know as I believe in calling a spade a spade.
TIA

Tony
