Bolland v Kraft Guillotine / Watchman / Haunted Churuchyard

Post by daveslot »

Did anybody here buy the model in Gorringes today? --add linky here--
I had the pleasure of underbidding it, just wondered if anybody knew who the maker was. I requested pics of the mech but never got them, so had to bid blind.

Brings back memories. There was one of these on Worthing pier when I was a kid.

Yes, I thought it was Kraft, but I've never seen one with a small bottom door. They always had a large one so the mech was easily accessible and the modelling looked too good to be a Kraft. Looked more like a Bollands without their trademark front casting.

Yeah, assuming it is Kraft, it's the best one I've seen. And assuming it's not Bollands, it was either "inspired by" or the original inspiration for the Night Watchman.

If I had to put money on it, I'd say it's a Bolland. The picture below is a Bolland - compare the two, there are just too many similarities for it not to be.
There is at least one known Bolland machine in a similar case (The Guillotine).

You're probably right JC, in which case I guess they built the case instead of using an old Merchantman for this one. I wonder if the motor and cams are Exhibit Supply though.
