Oil and grease Tree, you'll find that has a long term effect on the plastic causing it to break down over time. Usually at the hubs where it has infected them. It's an issue with many things made of plastic. Eventually the plastic will turn back into its original constituents. Heat and UV are also an issue with things like 1950s and now '60s pinball playfield plastics. I've seen them go from mint perfect, to crackle crazed, to oozing oil and utterly destroyed in just a few years!
