Well done !!CHEERS!!

Wondered who bought them. I was considering a trip like my trip to the Isle of Wight, but then realised Northern Ireland is even more expensive to get to and now with added paperwork.

When Once On The Square auctions in Belfast finally put estimates up, I decided I would be mad and it needed a local buyer. The Shefras punchball was not cheap at £5456 with commission. They used to sell for under a grand.

I thought most of the stuff there though was from the Barry’s Funfair at Portrush, which closed down 18 months ago, owned by the same family. There was a nostalgic film on Talking Pictures TV last weekend in the 1950s covering the amusement park in Portrush.

Thanks! Some of the signs and larger items were from Barry's Portrush indeed, though the older stuff was Barry's Bangor.
No definitely shouldn't be any added paperwork for old machines like this going to the mainland, though a different story for sausages and cooked meat. In fairness, we have always had quite strict rules on meat products coming and going out of N. Ireland.

Well done indeed. !!THUMBSX2!!
I underbid the Slick. Couldn't resist a punt, as I haven't owned one for years.

Yes, seems they're more prized at the moment. This one sold for £4,000 in Paris just over a week ago.

Sounds interesting. Can you remember what it was called?

Thank you!! I was hoping no-one had clocked the slick machine lol ! but given I used to play this actual machine and the Grand National I would have went much higher as been looking for these two for years. The Ice Hockey machine I knew when I viewed it a couple of weeks ago it would have been a brave resto as missing lots of parts so bought it purely for a decorative piece of wall art in my bathroom once I tidy it up and take off the legs. As for that Portrush film on Talking Pictures I am intrigued indeed and sorry to have missed it. Hope it's repeated soon.

I don’t have a record facility on my TV, but did record on phone. Can’t remember name, it was a NI promo film for tourism filmed in 1959. That channel regularly shows quirky short films including many from BFI……

The Ruffler and Walker hockey games were definitely projects.I would have bought the one below for £45, as it had legs and importantly original handles. I also loved the added artwork. !THUMBS!

Will keep an eye open for that promo film hopefully it will be repeated soon.
Yes I probably should have bought that Ice Hockey machine too. The one I bought I bought purely as decorative wall display for my bathroom, as I'm getting into my wall displays these days.
The auctioneer was telling me the Punchbag and Grand National were in a local antiques shop for a few years and he had no takers at all, probably due to a lack of internet presence.

As you bagged it for my absentee bid of £520, I must have been on the wrong side of the bidding. I'm very glad you got it, given your connection with it, and sorry if I pushed it up a bit.

Just a heads up that there is a Ruffler & Walker Grand National racer listed on the EH web site for any one that missed this one.

As Jimmy stated, the allwin is by The British Manufacturing Company (London) run by Charles Featherstone and dating from the 1930s, they also made a halfpenny version of this machine - see photo below, the company did not survive WWII.
Lovely looking machines.

Do British collectors generally like Kicker Catchers? They're like a more aggressive bajazzo ;)

Like the connotation that you can literally 'spend a penny' in the bathroom nick

Nice, but I think the Grand National would have looked better in the bathroom.
