Reel mech query
Reel mech query
I believe this mech is from a Sega but does anyone know which one it is? It’s a keeper by the way.
Thank you

Re: Reel Mech Query
Could be from quite a few. I can see it has "7"'s on the reels. Does it have any other unusual symbols? If you run a payout test on all combinations (do you know how to do this?) we can at least tell you some models it might be from.

Re: Reel Mech Query
Check the payout discs for the extra deep cut out, for the special award. Also, can't see the operating arm for the special award, so that might be missing.
I have this one, which is a Sega 777.

Re: Reel Mech Query
Not all 777 awards were token vending linked and some machines just paid the award on the card. It seems to be missing all the jackpot trips as well, even though it has the top slide trigger.
Re: Reel Mech Query
Treefrog is correct. My Mills Hi Top pays 10 coins for 777 anywhere in the window. This is triggered from a payout finger rather than the Gold Award Trip mounted on the Anti Reverse Lever.
Re: Reel Mech Query
Thank you fine chaps. I’m away from the reel mech at the mo but will have a proper look next week. You’re such a knowledgable bunch.
Re: Reel Mech Query
Cheers TF. Which part is the top slide trigger? There are some other parts missing too. I’ll post some snaps shortly to see if you can help me identify what they are.
Re: Reel mech query
Photo 1: The unders-spring on the payout slides. What is this called?
Photo 2: I’m looking for the collar that is held in place by the split pin. How should I describe this in the Wants adds?
Finally, any idea why photo 3 and 4 are so different? Both work well but one seems over-engineered.

Photo 1. That spring is connected to the arm that pushes the coins off the top of the coin tube, when it's full. It pulls the arm back to let coins fall into the coin tube, then the arm moves forward when the mech is cycled.
The reason they were so over engineered was because they were designed for constant play, in casinos.

Re: Reel mech query
No worries. I’ve located some parts. I still don’t know why 3 & 4 are so different.

Re: Reel mech query
No 4 has linkage attached for an additional function, like a counter or external vendor.
Re: Reel mech query
Thank you. The over engineered question relates to the difference between photos 3 & 4 from an almost identical machine.special when lit wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 12:30 pm Photo 1. Ah, thank you. Just seen your post. Both reels are from Sega lite-ups so maybe a counter then.
Re: Reel mech query
So the collar is in place of a check detector arm, which were often removed and a simple round bezel put in its place as most people did not use the check detector function (often why you only see one horizontal arm on the escalators). I have seen whatever an operator could use for the purpose, like copper tubing etc.
Never seen a meter on the the other part which serves more than one function and is part of the anti check cheat mechanism which locks the payout if installled.

Re: Reel mech query
I believe the additional parts in photo 4 are to operate a special pay feature on some models, advancing it every time the handle is pulled, or operating a vendor.

In my Metal Forms Products Co. catalogue it is described as a Mills Vendor Release Trip.

Re: Reel mech query
No, it's in line with the trip for a side vendor that pokes through the wooden side.
