Spicers vintage slot machine auctions

Woke up this morning to see Edward playing football with his friend Mr Cowboy.

Not often you get this kind of wonderful opportunity.

Wow! Some very collectible machines with ridiculously low estimates. It would be nice if the auction house had hired someone to test each game and report of the functional status. Better take your lunch money, BP and head up the road.

Indeed, however, as I regularly say I'm not interested in playing that game.
It is ridiculous to adopt a "Don't mention what's for sale" attitude. We're all in the same hobby, we all depend on each other at some point for help/advice, we all collect differently and are all on the internet.
If you found it, anyone can.
And having been involved in live sales and auctions for around 25 years I can tell you now it's only the naïve that think there's anything other than a very short and slim advantage in staying schtum.
The damage though to future auctions and sales days happening is tangible.

You say BP, but not everyone picks up every sale, like the Wings pintable I shared the other day near this sale that’s sold for £32……. People like to dream and there ain’t nothing wrong with that………as such I understand why some will get frustrated. Anyhow this sale is a bit blatant and would come out in some way.

What does surprise me is someone willing to lose over 40% on potential sale money or even more depending on auction how sellers charges.

I wonder what or where “Teddy’s” was with three lots relating to it…..also anyone know what “ SS Empire Emporium, York ” was where many lots were bought from.

On the topic of the machines in the sale, a few look interesting. The football games, larger one is Ahrens not Chester Pollard and seems to have most of the case, although the front seems to be missing.

Nice to see something interesting to auction. !!THUMBSX2!!

What is the second smaller version? Parts look much more modern. !PUZZLED!

I thought this Noughts and Crosses was different, but what an odd game to create for amusement only. Probably the simplest game you can play anywhere, to then pay a penny to do it on a wall machine…..

The small footballer is a Matthewson. Wooden case looks totally okay to me. May be a new oak case but I do not think so. Newer? No, circa 1898!
