Jennings slot machine, Nevada?
Jennings slot machine, Nevada?
Does anyone know anything about this machine? I have zero info except this photo. I have the exact machine dismantled in boxes. Bought it dirt cheap but I would love a manual for it. The small window where it says "we love to pay jackpots" is white with stars and says "The Dunes" on mine. The lower belly glass is missing on mine so I don't know how I'm going to remake that...

Re: Jennings slot machine, Nevada?
Well its a late model of course as I'm sure you know, it looks to have been made at about the same time as or just after the "Galaxy" and it uses exactly the same top casting and reel layout as the Galaxy., Does it have a hopper or slides? If it is a hopper then perhaps a late Galaxy with a hopper added to update the machine to higher payouts. It's earlier than the 400 series which is a totally new design, so I'm guessing late 1960's.(date type o corrected) If you need the belly glass I can make that for you no problem, The belly glass on the 400J in the photo might work well with "Dunes" logo

Then I'm pretty sure it's the last of the Galaxy range. With the JP removed because the hopper made it redundant they needed a new belly glass and casting. Good luck getting that hopper to work.

Re: Jennings slot machine, Nevada?
I'm pretty used to crap like that hopper because I collect and restore pinball machines
I took an hour and reassembled part of the machine just to figure out if I have all the parts, from what I can see I'm just missing the belly glass.
The machine is in horrible condition but with cleaning, blasting and powder coating it will probably look decent enough for me, payed about 100€ for it.

Re: Jennings slot machine, Nevada?
Those are the patent dates (but I did make an error earlier. I put late '80s when it should have read late '60s. Couldn't be '80s - that would be later than the 400J model. (Sorry to confuse you.)
Hershey merged with Jennings in 1957 but sold out in the late '60s to TJM for next to nothing. The Galaxy was the last machine that was really a Jennings. TJM bought the dies and all the spare parts and continued to use the Jennings name, so it makes sense that this was made by TJM from Jennings parts they got when they bought out Jennings in much the same way as Sega made machines from Mills parts when they took over Mills.

Ah OK I thought it was the production date. Do you know if there are any electrical schematics for my machine? And what colors on the machine would have been the options for it? I don't like the brown color.

Re: Jennings slot machine, Nevada?
No chance of any manuals etc. This was definitely a stop gap machine made in small numbers before the 400 series came out, and they were a disaster anyway and did not sell well.
