Wheel of Fortune
Wheel of Fortune
I've finally obtained an example of this splendid BRENCO machine.
It's in need of some attention, but it appears to be all there. It has had the inevitable decimal conversion, as expected.
Does anyone have pictures showing the ORIGINAL artwork for the illuminated coin acceptor panel?

Re: Wheel of Fortune
I love these machines, but they are sooooo mean… Wonder if the odds can be easily changed.
Re: Wheel of Fortune
I did.
I was thinking that you were confusing it with one of the many Jamieson's type games which use an ex-GPO uniselector.
This game is just an automatic version of the fairground Wheel of Fortune. There is a ring of 40 contacts corresponding to the positions on the wheel, and the pointer starts and stops under the control of a cam on the rotary game controller.
Two variators are included to eliminate 'sequencing', but the odds are as seen on the wheel.
The only way to change the payout would be to change the values on the wheel; artwork and soldering skills would be needed.

Re: Wheel of Fortune
When the machine's operating in attract mode, wait for the delayed start of the arrow and slam your penny in the 12 slot! Not a lota people know this trick and my late brother was the only one in Bridlington to master it back in the 60s.
Re: Wheel of Fortune
After only one afternooon's attention, this machine is now in working order.
Cleaning and straightening of contacts was needed, plus cleaning the dried grease from the Brenco 'chopstick' clutch.
I haven't polished the coin entry paths yet, as the next job involves undoing the decimal conversion.
