Re: Wheel of Fortune

This post seems to have drifted a little from Brenco to Crompton's. !!JUNK!!
Talk of the Tooty Fruity prompted me to dig into my archives. About the time the Tooty Fruity was being developed (1964 ish), Crompton's were advertising for extra staff in the development department. What a job that would have been! !!YIPPEE!! Pity I wasn't due to leave school for another 3 years at the time. :dammit:

Are we OK to continue with Tooty Fruity, or do we need to split it off?

I've just remembered that there was another version of it; or perhaps a rival manufacturer's version.
It was called something like 'Gold Cup', or 'Silver Cup', and had appropriately shaped cups.
It may have had a racing theme. It may also be in my defective imagination.
Any ideas?

I was just leaving school at that time, but would have been too young (but I would have lied  )

Correction to my last post. A little more research tells me that Miller's WERE in fact the manufacturer of this machine, !TAPTAP! !READ! and not just the agents. !WHOOPS!

Miller's may well have made it, but Fruit Drops ISN'T it.
The one I remember distinctly had cup-shaped cups.

Other than that, a simple cleaning-up of the coin slides sorted it. The payout solenoid came unexpectedly to life during play.

Working from the top, the original four coin entries have simply been covered with a single steel plate having new penny-size holes. It isn't nice, but I may just bore the holes out for now.

Four chutes carry the coin from the coin-head to the playfield. These are newly-made for the conversion, of new-penny width, and not a modification of the originals. Four new ones, of the original width, have been folded ftom brass sheet, and soldered into place.

The old-size pennies now reach the playfield. It's a start.

Good grief. Just reading your posts tells me you’re a genius or AI. 🤔😉
