This time I bought a High Top

Post by jerryt »

So... Unable to resist a sad looking anything, today I bought this.

Yup it's a bit sad... but it's a JackPot model and is about as complete as you might hope for.
So far as I can see only the cash box is missing. The vendors know it had one but where it is anybody's guess!

The insides are... frankly foul and the clock is seized but... I'll get there.
My favourite bit - under the red paint it's green. Love a bit of variety.

Wish me luck.

it will scrub up fine, as they always do, it's a fairly late model and a real pity it's missing the Mills escalator( I think, can't quite see for sure). But I like a machine like this, you don't have to worry if it is best to restore or leave original...it speaks for itself :D
the very thought of dismantling the clock used to scare me, until I did one, now its the best part, very rewarding

I was surprised that didn't sell quicker, it was quite a good price.

So far so good... Nothing awful inside apart from some wear and the clock was pretty well rusted together (heat, patience some judicious force and it's free and ok, even though it looks awful from the rust)
Enough tinkering over the weekend to have the main mechanism playing on the bench.

Main issue is that one of the little spring posts on the escalator is broken.. I have yet to investigate further, for how they are held in and if I can machine a replacement.
Holding things roughly in place with my finger I can make the escalator work so there is potential.

Net... I'm pretty chuffed

So....

Here is the escalator.

Can an expert confirm this is the right type please, before I go shelling out on repairs.
As you can see one of the spring pins is missing, (under the lever arm) having snapped off, are these screw in? If so if I can extract the remains I can feasibly make another.
Plan B is the converted to roll down one on on Ebay for £39 which might yield what I need, but is missing the pivot pin for the central lever.

Sage advice hugely welcome

Work on the original.
The spring loaded post maintains the slide pressure when the teeth pass over the coin.
Roll down escalators are a foreign intruder.

I bought this Sega Bell this weekend, sadly with a roll down escalator. Luckily it was coming from Amsterdam so in the colours of Ajax, so an extra machine was allowed in the house!

The top casting doesn't have a casting hole for a Sega badge?
